His speech wasn't as long as Fidel Castro's in 1960 which went on for four and a half hours.

They Just Don't Work In Favor Of Obamacare

You do not have to cover yourself or your stuff.   You simply have to cover everyone else against damages you and your vehicle might do to them or their stuff. So relative to Obama's case, only one portion of auto insurance is mandated by law and it is not the half that has anything to do with protecting the policy owner.  (Where is Roe v. Wade privacy when you need it?) So half of Team Obama's brilliant metaphor caves in right there. And the other half -- the liability half -- does not apply to health insurance.  This analogy would only work if health insurance applied to us injuring or causing others to get sick.  Clearly that is not what health insurance does, thus wiping out the other half of the Obama analogy. This does open up some valid and teachable correlations between auto and health however.  They just don't work in favor of Obama Care.

Conversely, one of the major elements of the campaign against cap and trade is to try to insist that it should be called “cap and tax.” As to cap and trade proposals on carbon, the same objectives can be achieved by way of an administratively simpler carbon tax.  Briefly, with cap and trade the regulating authority sets an allowable quantity and lets the market determine the price; with a tax, the authority sets the price and lets the market determine the quantity. But Obama can't pursue the carbon tax because of his campaign promise.  And he has to waterboard the English language to pretend that even though the government is forcing people's dollars into other people's pockets, it's not a tax.

Many years ago, there was a big, lumbering catcher named Ernie Lombardi whose slowness afoot was legendary. When Lombardi came to bat, infielders played back on the outfield grass. That gave them more range in getting to balls that Lombardi hit. They could snare line-drives that would otherwise be base hits. With ground balls, they could easily throw to first base from the outfield grass and get the slow-moving Lombardi out. But was Lombardi really an underdog? It must have been discouraging for Ernie Lombardi, especially in his early years, to be repeatedly thrown out at first base on balls that would have been base hits for anybody else. But he couldn't let himself dwell on that-- not and win two batting titles.

What actually seems to happen in these "affordable housing" scams is that some nuisance group like ACORN joins forces with some scheming developer to shake down banks and local pols. ACORN gets its grant, the developer gets his profit, the pols get their votes, and the ACORN people move their brothers, cousins, and friends into the "affordable housing." The unconnected poor — people who didn't join the all-day sit-in at the bank lobby because they were too busy working for a living, or just because they thought it was rude — are left where they were before. A little worse off, perhaps, as that much less housing is on the actual housing market.

clipped from pajamasmedia.com Under the circumstances, you’d think that your government would be talking to the Greens.  But you’d be wrong.  Perhaps Hillary Clinton thought she was telling the truth when she claimed, a few days after the insurrection of June 12th, that “behind the scenes” we were helping the Iranian opposition.  If so, she shouldn’t have said anything about it, but I don’t think she was well informed.  There are no contacts between the American Government and the leaders of the opposition.  One should not expect the new government to look kindly upon a President Obama who publicly sweet-talked the Tehran butchers, and all but begged Khamenei for a few minutes of his precious time.  The same applies to the Europeans, all of whom scrambled for oil and other commercial contracts, and none of whom talked to the Green leaders. As so often, Martin Luther King Jr. summed it up perfectly:  “In the end we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”

Khamenei & Co. certainly know this, as they know they are being betrayed by some very high-ranking people.  And the exodus is under way;  by the end of the week we will see some important representatives of the Islamic Republic resign their posts, for they do not wish to be associated with it any longer.
