Another One

clipped from pajamasmedia.com

There is a generational cycle at work here. Wars for survival are fought and won. Prosperity ensues. The people get soft and forget the lessons of the past. Their existential survival does not seem at risk. The last 20 years have been what is termed an “unravelling.” During times like this, wars are not fought to a conclusion. They are fought halfheartedly, because the populace, Israel in this case, but this applies to the US too, does not feel threatened enough to fight to win. That is because fighting to win is nasty and brutal and involves great national sacrifice.

But once a society enters a Crisis period, the overwhelming majority of people feel their survival is at stake. Wars during Crisis periods are fought no holds barred. They are total and devastating. Crisis periods occur every 80 to 100 years. The last crisis started in the 1930’s. We are in the beginning of another one.
